Mar. 26 – The major port city of Danang has become a top destination for information technology.
It is attracting interest from American, Japanese and Singaporean investors because of its good infrastructure, services and incentive policies for investment in the IT industry. Last year, Danang ranked top among cities and provinces based on the Information and Communication Technology index, reports Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Trade and Industry.
Its IT sector reported positive growth of 25 percent yearly over the last three years with occupancy in Danang’s software parks stable, even during the financial crisis . There are pending plans to develop Danang’s IT capability by finishing the construction of three more IT parks by 2020.
One of the foreign companies to invest in the city includes U.S.-based information technology and computer networking company, Juniper Networks. The company is committing US$10 million to build a next generation network lab in Danang in addition to its two labs built in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
