The Vietnamese government has released the final 2025 public holidays calendar list, with directions for public offices and the private sector. Employers and businesspersons traveling to Vietnam are advised to plan proactively and align with the country’s holiday schedule. This approach ensures compliance with legal best practices, facilitates efficient management of government contracts and bureaucratic processes, and minimizes disruptions to workflow.

Vietnam’s Ministry of Home Affairs has confirmed that the National Day holiday, the final public holiday of 2025, will run from August 30 to September 2. Civil servants and public employees will be off from Saturday, August 30, through Tuesday, September 2, combining two official holiday days with the regular weekend.

State agencies are required to arrange on-duty personnel to ensure uninterrupted public services and address urgent matters. Organizations without fixed weekend schedules are advised to align holiday leave with their operational needs.

In Hanoi, celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day will feature a grand ceremony, military parade, and march beginning at 6:30 a.m. on September 2 at Ba Dinh Square, proceeding through several central streets. According to the Ministry of National Defense, the event will involve around 30,000 participants, excluding parade and marching contingents. The capital will also host fireworks displays at five locations on the evening of September 2: Hoan Kiem Lake, Thong Nhat Park, Van Quan Lake, My Dinh National Stadium, and West Lake.

2025 Vietnam holiday calendar for the private sector

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs (MOLISA) encourages businesses to align their employee leave policies with the official holiday schedule. The Announcement No.6150/TB-BLĐTBXH issued by MOLISA on December 3, 2024, offers the following list of official Vietnam public holidays for 2025:

1. New Year’s Day: January 1, 2025 (Wednesday)

2. Lunar New Year (Tet):

• For employees working from Monday to Friday, companies may choose one of the following options:
  • January 24 – January 30, 2025 (Friday to Thursday);
  • January 27 – January 31, 2025 (Monday to Friday); or
  • January 28 – February 3, 2025 (Tuesday to Monday).
• For employees working from Monday to Saturday, company may choose one of the following options:
  • January 25 – January 30, 2025 (Saturday to Thursday);
  • January 27 – January 31, 2025 (Monday to Friday); or
  • January 28 – February 1, 2025 (Tuesday to Saturday).

3. Hung Kings Commemoration Day: April 7, 2025 (Monday)

4. Reunification Day: April 30, 2025 (Wednesday)

5. International Labor Day: May 1, 2025 (Thursday)

6. National Day: The company may choose one of the following options:

• September 1 – September 2, 2025 (Monday to Tuesday); or
• September 2 – September 3, 2025 (Tuesday to Wednesday)

2025 Vietnam holiday schedule for public workers and government offices

Previously, on November 26, the Government Office released Official Dispatch 8726/VPCP-KGVX, promulgating the Vietnam public holiday schedule in 2025.

The Prime Minister has approved the draft plan from the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) for Tet (Lunar New Year), Victory Day – International Labor Day, and National Day. Of note is that Tet 2025 will include a nine-day holiday for cadres, civil servants, and public employees. This period will encompass five official Tet holidays and four regular days off.
